Jeff is the founding President of the National Hydrogen Association (NHA) and the Hydrogen Education Foundation (HEF), and General Manager of the Partnership for Advancing the Transition to Hydrogen (PATH). He is Executive Director of the Biomass Thermal Energy Council (BTEC) and President of the Carbon Management Council (CMC)

Jeff was the founding Executive Director of the Fuel Cell Commercialization Group, the Utility Biomass Energy Commercialization Association, and the Utility PhotoVoltaic Group (now the Solar Electric Power Association). He led the exploratory workshops and relationship building that led to formation of each of these organizations, and then went on to manage them through start-up, development and strategic transition phases.

In addition to establishing and managing coalitions to develop markets for new energy technologies and products, Jeff has experience in power system management and consulting, the new technologies of electric energy service companies, public policy, and utility regulation.

Jeff was named in 2006 to the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Department of Agriculture Biomass R&D Technical Advisory Committee and has served since 2006 as the Chairman of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Energy Conversion Initiative Advisory Committee.

Previous roles include positions with the U.S. Department of Energy and Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Mr. Serfass holds B.S. and M.E. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaka, New York.


Debbi Smith

Debbi serves as Executive Vice President for the National Hydrogen Association (NHA), and Vice President of Operations for TTC. She brings over 25 years' experience marketing hydrogen as a fuel, coalition-building, and management. Debbi was a founding Board Member of the NHA and its Policy Advisor until she became an employee of TTC and the NHA's Vice President in 1990. Debbi left full-time employment with TTC in 1994 to become a consultant. In 2003, she rejoined the TTC staff and brings experience in legislative and government affairs, public relations and management.

Debbi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in English (Writing) from Towson State University.

Karen is the Managing Director for Technology Transition Corporation, Ltd., TTC’s wholly-owned subsidiary in Gateshead, United Kingdom. Karen’s experience as a Vice President for TTC extends
TTC’s expertise in management and technical services for organizations interested in commercializing alternative energy systems to Europe.

Karen uses her technical background to plan and conduct workshops globally to educate stakeholders on the market and technical aspects of hydrogen energy and fuel cells. She also leads activities to form broad-based consensus documents on policy and technical issues pertinent to the commercial deployment of hydrogen energy systems. Karen is the editor of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Safety Report, the NHA’s monthly web newsletter that serves to create dialog between hydrogen industry, code and standards development organizations, code officials, and other stakeholders for the purpose of achieving common objectives.

Karen serves as the Administrative Manager for the United Kingdom Hydrogen Association, and as Vice President for Technical Operations for the NHA (USA).


Patrick Serfass

Patrick blends engineering expertise with a diverse skillset in marketing and communications.  He has worked with the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) to help them better understand alternative energy regulations and managed projects for several major auto manufacturers and one energy company to introduce brand new alternative energy technologies to various cities.  Most recently, Patrick helped a group of companies to form the American Biogas Council (ABC) and released the U.S. Market Report on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells.

In addition, Patrick is the Spokesman and Vice President of Technology and Communications for the National Hydrogen Association (NHA).  He is responsible for all communications, media and educational activities as well as much of the planning and management of the NHA. 

In a similar role, he also manages the Hydrogen Education Foundation (HEF), the charitable, education-focused arm of the NHA which currently administers four programs: the H2 and You public outreach program, the Hydrogen Student Design Contest and H-Prize Competition, and the Proton Energy Scholarship.

Patrick is co-author of the New York State Hydrogen Energy Roadmap, The Energy Evolution: An analysis of alternative vehicles and fuels to 2100, the NHA’s U.S. Market Report on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells and has several years experience developing hydrogen codes and standards.  Before the NHA, he worked in Boston as an architectural engineer, designed deep ocean vehicle prototypes and worked for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Policy and International Affairs.  Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College.


Brian Schorr

Brian Schorr is the Program Manager for TTC. He is responsible for the coordination of activities for TTC's clients, which include the National Hydrogen Association (NHA), The Hydrogen Education Foundation, and the Partnership for Advancing the Transition to Hydrogen (PATH) . His duties include oversight of client budgets, producing material for and running Board of Directors and client committee meetings, updating client information on the Members Only websites, and serving as the editor for client newsletters.

Prior to joining TTC in 1999, Brian studied fire history and suppression in the forests of the Lake Tahoe Basin of California and Nevada. He has also worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in South Africa.

Brian received a B.S. degree in Physical & Environmental Geography from Pennsylvania State University in 1999.


Christine Bryant

As Finance Manger for TTC, Christine is responsible for overseeing TTC’s and its clients’ finances. Her financial management responsibilities include financial analysis, budgeting and administration of Department of Energy grants.

Christine will earn her B.S. in Economics from George Mason University in May 2010.


André Cutair

André brings both formal design training and years of experience to bear in his work on web and print publications. He has worked on several websites for TTC clients, including architecting, developing, and building out the site, complete with custom imagery and copy.

On the print side, Andre designs and produces a variety of collateral for TTC clients -- including brochures, bookets, postcards, and signage -- and has conducted brand identity campaigns as well.

Andre has a B.A. in English from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and an M.S. in Instructional Technology from Towson State University.

Cordelia Pearson serves as Finance Coordinator for TTC and its clients. Her duties include the management of clients' finances, producing financial reports for TTC and its clients, and managing the day-today activities of the finance department.

Before joining TTC, Cordelia worked for seven years at the Giant Food Distribution Center. She brings her organizational skills and a strong background in customer and client relations to the TTC team.

Kyle is Deputy Director of the Biomass Thermal Energy Council (BTEC), General Manager of the Renewable Energy Markets Association (REMA), and Program Manager at TTC. His duties include program oversight, membership development, education and outreach, budget oversight, and other client support. He has been directly involved in the formation, development, and management of several TTC association clients.

Kyle is a 2006 summa cum laude graduate of Eckerd College.


 

Geoffrey Bromaghim

Geoff works with a number of TTC's clients, including the Hydrogen Education Foundation (HEF) on its administration of the H-Prize and with the National Hydrogen Association (NHA), where Geoff supports the Safety, Codes and Standards as well as the Policy and Government Affairs programs.

Geoff also coordinates the policy activities of the Renewable Energy Markets Association (REMA).

Geoff started working for TTC in February 2008. He earned a B.A. from St. Norbert College, and an M.P.A. from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.



Emanuel Wagner

Emanuel is working in various program areas such as Membership Development, Education & Outreach and Research & Analysis for several TTC's clients, including the Biomass Thermal Energy Council (BTEC) and the Renewable Energy Markets Association (REMA).

He is also supporting senior management in business development efforts for TTC. Emanuel joined TTC in March 2009.

Emanuel holds a Bachelor's degree (Zwischenprüfung) from University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Political Sciences with Economics (2004) and a Master's (Diplom) from the University of Potsdam in Political Science (2008).
