TTC Welcomes New Interns for Summer 2009

As part of its year-round internship program, TTC is pleased to welcome 4 interns for the coming summer months.  The interns come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and will assist staff with client projects ranging from energy research and report writing, marketing, communications, website design, publications, policy and government affairs.

Ingrid Freemyer

Ingrid
Ingrid Freemyer joined TTC in May to provide staff support to the H2 and You Public Outreach Campaign (www.h2andyou.org) and provide marketing and communications support for several of TTC’s other clients.

Ingrid is a 2009 graduate of Virginia Tech with a major in Communications and minor in Marketing.  She has been on the Dean’s list for 7 semesters, and was a member of Gamma Sigma Alpha honor fraternity over that time.

Prior to her current internship, she interned for the White House Historical Association and later served as a counselor at the Arlington County, Virginia branch of the YMCA.
 
She is a resident of the greater Washington, DC area.

PatrickPatrick Stelmach
Patrick Stelmach joined TTC for his internship in June.  This coming fall, he will be entering his senior year at UC Berkeley, with a double major in Political Science and Society & Environment.  His relevant course work includes:

  • U.S. Environmental Resource Policy
  • Climate Policy Design
  • Politics of Air Pollution
  • International Environmental Politics
  • Environmental Policy, Administration and Law

Class assignments have included:

  • Recommendation to DOE on Strategies for De-Carbonizing the US Energy Sector
  • Critical Analysis of Rep. Markey's Investing in Climate Action Protection Act
  • Report on Israel’s Environmental Problems: Air Pollution and Water Scarcity

Patrick is assisting the Partnership for Advancing the Transition to Hydrogen continue its report on the Global State of Hydrogen and provide staff support to the National Hydrogen Association’s policy and government affairs program.

He has worked in Sen. Barbara Boxer’s (D-CA) district office responding to constituent concerns, many of which centered on environmental policy.  He has also been active in two grassroots efforts – “Greenaction” and “KIDS for the BAY.”  Patrick is a resident of the San Francisco Bay area.

RachelRachel Ladner
Rachel Ladner joined TTC and Terpstra Associates (www.terpstraassociates.com) this past May as a Policy & Government Affairs intern for hardwoods and forestry.  Her main responsibilities are to support projects for Grace Terpstra, a lobbyist in Washington, DC and a colleague of TTC staff.  Upon the completion of her current internship on July 2nd, 2009, Rachel will intern at the Washington, DC office of Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS).

Rachel is pursuing a major in Business Administration in Marketing and a minor in Public Relations at Mississippi State University, with an expected graduation date in May 2010.  Rachel is a member of Shakoul’s Honors College, has been placed on the President’s List, and affiliated with multiple honors fraternities.

In addition to her long list of achievements at Mississippi State, she has volunteered with community groups including the local chapter of the Boys and Girls Club, community after school program, Starkville Manor nursing home, and served as a mentor at Overstreet Elementary School, Starkville, Mississippi.

Rachel is a resident of Cleveland, Mississippi.

Jemmye Carroll
Jemmye Carroll is expected to join TTC and Terpstra Associates on July 6, 2009, replacing Rachel Ladner, and performing similar roles.  Jemmye is entering her senior year at Mississippi State University with a major in Communications (emphasis on broadcasting) and a minor in Political Science.

She is a member of the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, a member of the Community and Governmental Relations Board of the Student Association and president of the Pre-Law Society.

Jemmye is also a Student Worker Assistant to the Institute Director of the Stennis Institute of Government.  In this capacity, she is responsible for assisting the Director prepare reports, booklets, and institute presentations.  Jemmye also volunteered time ahead of the 2008 elections registering citizens to vote, placing campaign calls, and developing maps of voting precincts and voting history of those precincts.

In high school, Jemmye was Valedictorian of her class and voted the Wendy Heisman State High School Athlete of the Year in 2006.  Jemmye is also an active participant in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program.

She is a resident of Aberdeen, Mississippi.
